About Us
We are dedicated to giving all of our animals – from dogs and cats to chickens, ducks, doves, and quail – the safest and happiest lives that we can, on a biodynamically farmed ranch in historic Napa Valley. Improving soil health, reducing fire risk, and supporting local wildlife in harmony with our gardens and domesticated animals are foundational precepts for our work.
What We Do
The foundation of regenerative agriculture is biodiversity – we encourage a wide range of native plants, insects, and wildlife on the ranch, and we grow a variety of greens, vegetables, fruit, herbs, citrus and more! Composting, soil improvement, no-till garden preparation, and carbon sequestration are among our goals, as well as fire prevention, pollinator support, and of course humane animal husbandry!

Philosophy
We believe that human beings – as a species – have a responsibility to care for the animals that we have domesticated and bred, century after century, to live with us and alongside us, and to provide us with food, milk, wool, service, and companionship. We’re dedicated to providing that care, and to rescuing animals that haven’t received it and are suffering from abuse or neglect.
We’re not vegan, or even strictly vegetarian. We are committed to treating our animals as companions, getting to know their personalities and their preferences, and giving them the best and happiest life that we can. Our animals were not bred to be used for meat, and therefore we will never eat them, but we believe that it’s not our place to judge anyone else for their preferences, values, and beliefs. If anyone looks to us as leaders, we want to lead by example, and not by decree.
We also believe that we should do our best to leave the world – at least our little corner of it – better than we found it. For that reason we work to support our community, especially those who have been less fortunate or who have fewer resources, as well as working actively to improve the soil, protect the native flora and fauna, and use renewable resources like solar and wind power as much as possible.
